You should be sit in any asana with erect spine and relax body and close your right nostril with your thumb. Inhale a deep breath with your left nostril and whisper Om sound for 3 or 5 times. Then retain the breath inside by closing your left nostril by your little finger till 12 counts of the Om. Open your right nostril and exhale through the right nostril for 6 counts of the Om, keeping close the left nostril. The time ratio for inhale: retain: exhale is 1:4:2. You may increase the time and counts of whispering Oms in retaining the breath, but it should be comfortably without any strain to lungs and without any hurry. It will be better for awakening the Kundalini, if the aspirant contracts up the anus nerves. It is knows as Mula Bandha. Concentrate at the  Kundalini sleeping in Muladhara. A deep concentration and strong will to awaken the Kundalini always helps.
